Airbrush spray tans are custom and applied by salon owner and spray artist Tricia. We ask appointments be made 24 hours in advance, but our schedule does occasionally allow us to see clients the same day. BEFORE YOUR SPRAY TAN

Tan at the right time. You need to avoid water for at least 8 hours after you tan depending on the solution you choose. Select tanning solutions allow for a rinse in as little as an hour! Full development of your spray tan takes 24 hours.

Exfoliate and shave/wax before your session to remove dead, dry skin cells. This allows the bronzing solution to absorb into new, fresh skin. Your tan will be more even and will last longer. We suggest using a light exfoliating and moisturizing body scrub in your morning shower like Norvell pH balancing prep exfoliating scrub. Try to avoid bar soaps or in-shower moisturizers, which could interfere with the bronzing process.

Skip the lotion and makeup. While moisturizing your skin in the days following your tanning session will make it last longer, applying moisturizers and lotions immediately before your spray tan can interfere with the bronzer absorbing into your skin. If you do wear makeup the day of your tan, remove it before coming in for your spray tan to get the most even tan on your face. Also, use deodorant sparingly. 

Wear lose-fitting, dark clothing to your session. Also, be sure to remove all jewelry and leave it off until your tan is set. This will prevent your clothes and jewelry from rubbing against your skin and smudging your tan.

That’s it – you are ready to tan! Wear what you are comfortable with! We have a supply of disposable items or you may choose to wear a swimsuit, or go for a no tan line look. Spray sessions only take 5-10 minutes of active spraying, add in your prep and dry time, your visit at our salon takes about 30 minutes. 

AFTER YOUR SPRAY TAN

Keep Completely Dry for the first 8 hours of your spray tan. Getting your skin wet during this time could cause your finished result to be less developed, appearing streaky. So watch out for rain clouds, dishwater, sweating from your vigorous workouts, and the friendly family dog who can’t help but give you kisses. (Moisture on your skin after the first 8 hours will cause the temporary cosmetic bronzers to run but will not cause any harm to your lasting spray tan.) *This does not apply to clients using Rapid Rinse Solutions. Rapid Rinse Spray Tans can be rinsed off with warm water 1-3 hours after being applied. Full color is not fully developed for 24 hours.

Refrain from showering as long as possible, ideally for 24 hours. As with all DHA bronzing products, sunless color begins showing development approximately 4 hours after application and continues to darken for up to 24 hours. If you must shower before the 24 hours, do so using a warm water rinse only. The use of soap can inhibit full development of DHA. Remember, the immediate color your see from your spray tan is temporary, those cosmetic bronzers will wash away during the first shower. 

MAKE IT LAST

Moisturizing your spray tan is VERY important! Lotion up at least once a day, after your first rinse/shower. 

Skip the body soap and exfoliators. Use soaps sparingly after your spray tan as they typically have a unfriendly pH to your color. The more soap/exfoliator you use the higher the possibly for streaking and a uneven or premature fade away. For a safe way to soap up with a spray tan wash with Norvell pH balancing body wash.
